Bead & Button Show 2017, update

I'm really happy to tell you that the Phoenix Feathers Lariat class was selling almost at speed of light.
And I'm even happier to announce, I was able to add another session of this class!

Same procedure as every year...

Can you guess it?  Yes, of course, I'm talking about the Bead & Button Show 2017! Online browsing has begun already last week and you can book the classes already on January, 3, noon CST! So, I will try to cut out some me-time this weekend and browse through the class catalog. I already have some favorites :-)

And yes,  again this year, the class I submitted was accepted and I am happy to teach at this big event!

Oh Tannenbaum, mein Tannenbaum!

Es ist wieder soweit, das Jahr geht zu Ende und wir stecken vermutlich alle mitten in den letzten Festvorbereitungen. Auch dieses Jahr möchte ich euch mit einem kleinen Freebie überraschen. Wer noch keinen Baum hat, kann sich vielleicht noch einen perlen :-)

It is that time again, the year rushes towards it's end and we are probably all hustling around with preps for the holiday season. As every year I want to surprise you with a little freebie. And if you did not manage to get yourself a tree, maybe you can bead one :-)

Ich habe kürzlich im Gartencenter einen Monkey Puzzle Tree (Araucaria)  gesehen und mir sofort gedacht: DAS kann ich perlen!

Recently I discovered a monkey puzzle tree (araucaria) in my local garden center and immediately thought: I can do that in beads!

Die Idee ließ sich dann mit Twisted Herringbone und Dragon Scale Perlen auch prima umsetzen. Sieht doch fast so aus, oder?

The idea worked out really nice in twisted Herringbone with Dragon Scale beads. Almost like twins from a different mother, ha?

Monkey Puzzle Deutsch

Beim ersten Testmodell war ich noch vorsichtig und habe nur den vorderen Teil der Kette bestachelt. Kratzt aber gar nicht!

Making the first test necklace I only dragon-ed the front part. But it turned out to not feel scratchy to the skin at all!

Die zweite Kette ist komplett mit Dragon Scales besetzt und ich hatte tatsächlich zufällig auch den perfekten Verschluss in einer meiner Schatzkistchen. Wo ich doch Drachen so liebe!
Update: Habe mich inzwischen auch an den Shop erinnert, wo er her war: Saki Silver

So, of course the next necklace was completely covered in crystal blue rainbow scales. And then I discovered the perfect clasp in one of my treasure boxes! I absolutely love dragons!

Die (vorläufig) letzte Kette habe ich an einem trüben und fiesen Novembertag gestartet, da war mir nach Farbe. Jeder der 3 Stiche in der Runde bekam eine eigene Delica-Farbe. Dafür sind dann die Dragon Scales nur die Lariat-Enden hochgekrabbelt.

I started the last (for now) necklace on a cold and dreary November day and was really, really craving some color. So I used a different Delica color for each of the 3 stitches of one round. But I only dipped the ends of the lariat into the Dragon Scales.

Guess what I will do tonight...

Aaahhh, finally! It is December 15, 2015 and today the online class browsing for Bead & Button Show 2016  begins. There have been reports on Facebook of sightings of the print catalog, but it usually takes a bit more time until they reach Europe.

So, tonight I will shut down my phone, select some nice music, get me a lovely cup of tea and maybe some cookies and cuddle on my comfy couch with a blanket and a fully charged tablet. I'm really curious to see which classes and workshops the B&B team has selected for next year. And I am very happy and proud they also accepted the two classes I submitted. Wanna see? Ok!

Samstag, 18. April 2015: Armband „Daisy Kisses“ bei Martina Nagele

 

 

Ihr verbindet formale 3D-RAW-Elemente und zarte, spitzenartige Bändchen zu einem attraktiven Armband. Es ist federleicht und am Handgelenk kaum zu spüren. Außerdem ist es flach und dadurch absolut „Maushand-tauglich“ im Büro.

 

 

Wahlweise könnt Ihr die Bändchen auch solo fädeln und dann z.B. mehrere ganz schmale Armbänder gleichzeitig tragen.

Auch die Natur baut ihre Blüten in geometrischen Mustern auf! Der Anhänger ähnelt einer Hortensienblüte und hängt an einer zarten, aber stabilen Rankenkette.

 

 

Ihr könnt die Größe variabel gestalten und z.B. eine kleinere Version auch als Ring verwenden.

Showstopper-Kette

Tja, da habe ich doch endlich mal die Alu-Ringe aus der Vorratskiste gezogen, die schon seit einer ganzen Weile auf ihre Verwendung warten.
Finally I came up with an idea how to use the lovely chunky aluminum rings that were sitting in my stash for quite a while.

Zusammen schönen, dicken Glasschliffklunkern, silbernen und goldenen Perlchen und etwas Chain Maille kann sich die Kette durchaus sehen lassen. Könnte ein neues Lieblingsstück werden.
I really like the combo of big fire polished beads, silver and gold seed beads, all brought together with some chain maille bits. Could be one of my new favorite pieces.  

Die Kette ist beidseitig zu tragen: Vorne Gold und hinten Silber (oder umgekehrt, egal, am Hals dreht sich das eh' dauernd). Die handgearbeiteten Alu-Ringe gibt es übrigens hier: Vida - einzig nicht artig
The beaded part is reversible: Golden on one side and silver on the other.

Unentschlossen...

Kennt ihr auch solche Tage, an denen ihr nicht so recht wisst, was ihr perlen sollt? Keine Lust auf alte Geschichten und die neuen Ideen schwirren noch unausgegoren durch den Kopf. Nach einigem hin und her habe ich mich heute für etwas ganz anderes entschieden und endlich das Chain Maille-Projekt von vor 3 Wochen fertiggestellt.
Do you know those days when you can't decide what to bead? You don't want to go on with the projects you already started and the new ideas in your head need some more time to percolate. Today I decided to do something completely different and finally finished a Chain Maille Project I started 3 weeks ago.

Queen of Squares, das war ein Workshop bei Regine Hanisch. Zwar eigentlich als Armband gedacht, ist es jetzt bei mir eine kurze Halskette geworden, natürlich mit selbstgemachter Byzantinerkette. So ein wenig Abwandlung muss ja doch sein :-)

So, mein Hirn wurde dadurch auch ein wenig freigepustet und ich habe letztendlich doch noch was geperlt. Aber das zeige ich euch erst morgen, es ist noch nicht ganz fertig.
Also, my brain got a little kick in the b... and I finally had a good idea how to go on with another project. I will show it tomorrow, it's not quite finished jet.

Vergissmeinnicht

Die dicke Tüte mit hellblauen Pinch-Beads liegt jetzt schon seit der letzten Creativa hier rum. Damals kam ich nicht direkt dazu sie zu benutzen und dann passierte das übliche...aus den Augen, aus dem Sinn. Und warum es ausgerechnet babyblau sein musste, war mir auch nicht mehr so ganz klar.
There is a big bag of pinch beads hanging around here since last March. I did not get to use them directly then and meanwhile I totally forgot about them. And I really don't remember why on earth it had to be baby blue.

Vor einigen Tagen bin ich über diese sehr simple, aber sehr effektvolle Design-Idee von Nicole Hublard, aka Perl'agogo gestolpert.
Some days ago I stumbled over this quite simple but very lovely design idea by Nicole Hublard, aka Perl'agogo.

Das Ergebnis gefällt mir sehr gut, wenn es auch immer noch nicht wirklich meine Farbe ist. Aber ich kenne schon jemanden, der sich darüber freuen wird. Oder ich überlege es mir nochmal :-)
I like the results, even if it's still not really my color. But I already know someone who will be very happy to get it. Hm, maybe I will re-think this :-) 

Neon Challenge

Neon, Neon überall Neon... das ist ja eigentlich nix für mich. Ich habe heute mal eine Ausnahme für Dark Neons gemacht. Und von diesen "Beaded Bubbles" ist auch ganz fix eine Handvoll gemacht, das tat gar nicht weh :-)

Neon here and there, neon everywhere... not for me! I made an exception for the dark neons today. And those "Beaded Bubbles" are easy-peasy and quick to make, it did not hurt a bit :-)

Darf es ein wenig mehr sein?

Diese Kette wollte ich schon lange fädeln! Über die Weihnachtsfeiertage habe ich endlich die Zeit dafür gefunden. Sie hatte dann auch gleich ihren ersten großen Auftritt, inzwischen habe ich an den schwarzen Kanten auch noch mit einer Handvoll kleinen Kristallen aufgerüstet.
I wanted to bead this necklace since months, around Christmas I finally found the time. And I also had a good showy-offy opportunity to wear it. The edges of the black elements got a little more sparkle meanwhile with a handfull of tiny crystals.

Das Design basiert auf meinem Hilbert-Labyrinth, die Einfassungen der kleinen quadratischen Kristalle sind inspiriert von Marcia DeCosters Duomos Romanticos. 
The design is based upon my Hilbert curve labyrinths, the bezels of the square crystals are inspired by Marcia DeCoster's Duomos Romanticos.

Mannomannomann, das war eine tolle Überraschung zum Wochenende! Ich habe eine Zusage für die Bead & Button Show 2014 bekommen, die eingereichten Kurse wurden beide angenommen. Ich freu mich wie ein Schnitzel!
Wowwowwow, what a fabulous surprise for the weekend! I received an email from Bead & Button Show 2014, both classes I submitted were accepted. I danced the happy dance and right now I'm still sporting a broad grin from ear to ear!

Tja, in den nächsten Wochen werde ich mich erst Mal hinsetzen und mir noch andere Farbstellungen ausdenken. Und mich dabei weiter freuen :-) Und natürlich weiter die Daumen drücken für die Freunde, die noch nichts gehört haben.
My task for the next weeks is to sit down at my beading table and think about some more colorways. And I'll go on feeling very blessed and happy :-) And of course keep my fingers crossed for my friends that also submitted and did not hear from them yet.

Langsam werde ich nervös...

... am kommenden Dienstag beginnt die Einschreibungsfrist für die Bead & Button Show 2013. Schon letztes Jahr hatte ich ja das Vergnügen, dort unterichten zu dürfen. Und dieses Jahr wurde zu meiner großen Freude auch wieder eines meiner Projekte angenommen. Es hat so viel Spaß gemacht und ich habe so viele nette Leute kennengelernt, es war wirklich ein tolles Erlebnis!
I'm getting a little nervous... next Tuesday class subscriptions for Bead & Button Show 2013 start. Last year I had the absolute pleasure to teach there. And I was totally happy that also this year one of my projects got accepted. I had so much fun and met so many lovely people, it really was a great thing in my life.   

Und wie letztes Jahr werde ich vermutlich pünktlich um 19:00 Ortszeit vor meinem Computer sitzen und ab da nägelkauend alle 10 Minuten den Buchungsstand meines Kurses checken :-)
And like last year I will probably be sitting in front of my computer, at 19:00 hours sharp, and spend the evening chewing my nails and obsessively checking my class status every 10 minutes or so :-) 

Darf man potenzielle Kursteilnehmer eigentlich bestechen? Ich kann es ja versuchen! Also, jede Kursteilnehmerin erhält so einen prächtigen Brokatbeutel, liebevoll handgenäht von meiner Mutter. Das kleine, abgespeckte Collier für die Dinnereinladung ist schon mal fertig. Der Sylvesterabend kann jetzt kommen!
Das große Collier ist noch in Arbeit und kommt dann eben nächstes Jahr zum Einsatz. (Die Anleitung gibt es bei Nancy Dale)
The small and a bit downsized necklace for dinner invitations is finished. So, I'm prepared for New Year's Eve!
The big necklace is still a work in progress and will have to wait for a festive occasion next year. (You can get the tutorial from Nancy Dale) 

Übrigens: Die Büste ist nicht maßstabsgerecht, das Collier ist in der Größe also durchaus alltagsgeeignet.
Btw., the presentation bust is not lifesize, but much smaller. So the necklace size is absolutely fit to be worn everyday.

Sehr puristisch

Hier mal wieder was ganz schlichtes, wie ich meinen Schmuck eigentlich am liebsten mag. Außer natürlich an den Tagen, an denen ich üppiges Geschnörksel vorziehe. Gut, dass ich von beiden Sorten ausreichend Auswahl habe :-)
Something very straight and un-ruffly, the style I prefer my jewelry. Except the days when I want to wear big, bold, blingy pieces with heavy embellishment. Good I have a wide variety of both styles in my stash :-)

Auffi muass i!

Ich musste unbedingt noch ein wenig mit dem Kunstgras und den Figürchen von der Modelleisenbahn spielen.
I just had to do a little more playing around with those artificial grass spots and the little model railway figurines.

Mit gebremstem Schaum

Diese kleinen Blümchen-Dingerles habe ich schon vor einiger Zeit gefädelt, ganz enthusiastisch mit einer bestimmten Idee im Hinterkopf. Sie sollten, zusammen mit ganz vielen anderen angedrahteten Teilchen, den Weg in ein üppiges Collier finden. Tja, in der Praxis sah das montierte Ergebnis dann leider nicht so toll und originell aus wie ich dachte. All die vorbereiteten Einzelteile für sich sind schön, aber in der Kombination einfach zu viel, zu unstrukturiert und schlichtweg langweilig.
I made those little flower thingies already some time ago, very enthusiastic with a certain idea in mind. I wanted to add them to a really BIG necklace. But then the assembled piece did not look far as pretty and original as I had thought it whould. All those prepared elements were lovely on their own, but in combination it was too much, had no structure and was simply boring.

Und nun starren sie mich seit Wochen vorwurfsvoll aus ihrer Plastikbox an und warten auf ihren Einsatz. Schade eigentlich. Aber da müssen sie durch, irgendwann kommt die zündende Idee.
Since weeks they are sitting in a box on my desk now and stare at my in a very reproachful way. What a pity! But they will have to wait until some day I suddenly have a brilliant idea.

Spooky Spikes

Ach ja, eigentlich… eigentlich sollte diese Kette ganz anders aussehen. Aber, wie so oft, die Perlchen haben ihren eigenen Kopf und nun hat sie einen etwas Morticia-Addams-artigen Look.  Passt ja zur Jahreszeit. Happy Halloween! :-)

This necklace started out with a whole different intention. But sometimes the beads have their own will and it ended up with a somehow Morticia-Addams-ish look. Matches the season. Happy Halloween! :-)

Und wer gaaanz genau hinguckt, kann im Inneren der Blütenknospen sogar (Baby-) Spikes erkennen.

And if you take a really close look at the little buds you can even find some (baby) spikes in the middle.

Üppig, üppig!

Ich musste unbedingt noch mehr "Capsules and Tassels" fädeln. Diesmal blieben es lauter Einzelelemente, die ich dann mit allerlei Glitzer aus meinen Schatzkistchen zu einer ziemlich aufwändigen Kette montiert habe. Könnte glatt eine neue Lieblingskette werden!
I absolutely had to make some more "Capsules and Tassels". This time I made a handful of single elements, added some glittery treasures from my stash and assembled them to a nice, chunky necklace. Could be one of my new favourite pieces!

Fremdgegangen

In der Wartezeit auf meine neue Brille musste ich meine Hände ja mit irgendwas beschäftigen, die fuzzikleinen Perlchen konnte ich leider nicht mehr ohne Lupe erkennnen. Da fiel mir glücklicherweise ein, dass ich ja noch eine Handvoll Chain-Maille-Kits auf Lager hatte.
While I was waiting for my new glasses to be delivered I had to keep my hands occupied with something. I couldn't see my teensy-weensy beads any more without magnifier. Luckily I remembered that I had some Chain Maille kits in my stash.

Voilá! "Bold and Brilliant Byzantine" von Kat Wisniewski/ Blue Buddha Boutique. Und weil genug Material da war, wurde es auch eine Halskette und nicht nur ein Armband.

Noch mehr Nicht-Knoten

In 4 Wochen ist es schon soweit, dann ist wieder Zeit für die Bead & Button Show.
Ich stecke schon mitten in den Vorbereitungen und habe zum Beispiel "Not a Knot" noch in anderen Farben gefädelt.
In 4 weeks it is again time for Bead & Button Show. (Yayyyy!!! *kermitflails*) I have already started my preparations, for example I made more samples of "Not a Knot".

...and this one in red and bronze with black on the reverse side and satin cords instead of the beaded neckstraps.
