Jenseits des Tellerrands/ Out of my box

One thing I like about Bead & Button Show is the wide range of classes. Here you can make a try on different techniques without having to buy lots and lots of tools before. And you have teachers to advise you! I am a commited seed beader and love geometric beadwork. But freeform beading is not my piece of cake, I tend to sort out even bead mixes by color and size! :-) This year I was quite brave when it came to choose my classes. Yesterday you could see the results of my silversmithing class, today we go on with steampunky things in wire and metal.

My version of the Steampunk Dangle Bracelet by Kim St. Jean. Every element except the chain was hand made, from headpins to jump rings and pendants. I was juggling around with a torch, various pliers, punches, saws and files, dipped thingies in liver of sulphur, sanded, polished, stamped and hammered them. It was real fun and all 10 fingers are still on my hands.

I looove this little bulb! And yes, the wrapped loops are meant to be a bit wonky! Everyone can do them straight!

The scrabble piece was brand new, I flame grilled it with care (medium rare). And even the S-hook is handmade. This was my first attempt. Not bad at all, ha?

Wahnsinn!

Wow, was ein wundervolles Armband!
