Obwohl, mit Jogi Löws Invalidenliste kann ich es beinahe aufnehmen: Zuerst kriegt mein Fön heute morgen einen nicht behandelbaren Nervenzusammenbruch, dann stoße ich mir den dicken Zeh am Türpfosten...

Nein, viel wichtiger: Am Sonntag beginnt die Bead & Button Show in Milwaukee und ich bin mit dabei! Eine ganze Woche!! Ich habe einige Kurse bei bekannten Designern gebucht und ganz viele Verabredungen mit Facebook-Freundinnen, die ich immer schon mal kennenlernen wollte. Und die uns Greenhorns auch ganz liebevoll betütteln und dafür sorgen, dass wir in dem Getümmel nicht verschütt gehen. Das fängt mit dem Flughafentransfer an und geht weiter über Leih-Tageslichtlampen besorgen zu Frühstücks- und Dinnerverabredungen und und und...

Meine liebe Mama hat mir auch ein Extra Taschengeld überwiesen mit den Worten: "Aber nicht sparen, sondern für Perlen auf den Kopf hauen!" Ok, dann tu ich das halt. Wenn man mich so nötigt!

Wenn ich das mit dem Laptop gebacken kriege, gibt es zwischendrin natürlich Live-Berichte. Wenn nicht, ok, dann nicht :-)

The countdown is on! No, I don't talk about the world soccer championships in South Africa. I don't care too much for soccer, sorry. Although I could fit into Jogi Löw's team of disabeled players. This morning my hairdryer had a nervous breakdown and later I ran my big toe against a door post... ouch!

No, there is something much more important happening, at least in my world: Sunday is the start of Bead & Button Show in Milwaukee. And I am spending my holidays there! Yay!! I booked some workshops with well-known designers and have made a lot of appointments with Facebook friends I always wanted to meet in person. They are so sweet and take care of us greenhorns, so we probably won't get lost in all that hustle. Starting with airport shuttle service, organizing task lamps, breakfast and dinner appointments...

My mom gave me some money with the words: "Don't you dare to save this. Spend it on beads!" Ok, a maternal order is to be obeyed.

I'll try to get around with my laptop. If it works, I'll write some reports from time to time. If not, I won't :-)

Eigentlich wollte ich mir ein Armband passend zu der olivfarbenen Traumperle fädeln. Schmal, nur 2 Reihen Bicones, kein Schnickschnack, Magnetverschluß, fertig. Soweit der Plan.

I wanted to make a bracelet that suits the olive Dreamy Bead I just finished. Slinky, only 2 rows of bicones, no embellishment, magnetic clasp, finished. This was the plan.

Damischerweise hatte ich mich in der Länge vertan (immer schön den Verschluss abrechnen, gell!) und locker ums Handgelenk sah es wirklich nicht gut aus. Es ließ sich aber nicht mehr kürzen. Grrr!!
Dummy me did NOT think about the clasp, so in the end the bracelet was too long to look good. And I could not shorten it without destroying the whole thing. Grrr!!

Heute morgen wurde leicht umgebaut: Enden leicht überlappend, Verschluss an die Seite und in die Schlaufen, in denen der Verschluß hing, je ein halbes Dutzend kleine Perlen auf Draht. Länge passt, ich hab was zum rumspielen, der Verschluss ist verdeckt, was will man mehr!
This morning I made some smaller changes: The ends overlap a little, the clasp sits at the sides and I added some embellishment to the loops not needed any more for the clasp. Now the length is ok, I've got something to play with and the clasp is almost invisible. Happy accident!!

Of course I had to test! This is an olive-golden bead with beads from my own stash.
