Fremdgegangen

In der Wartezeit auf meine neue Brille musste ich meine Hände ja mit irgendwas beschäftigen, die fuzzikleinen Perlchen konnte ich leider nicht mehr ohne Lupe erkennnen. Da fiel mir glücklicherweise ein, dass ich ja noch eine Handvoll Chain-Maille-Kits auf Lager hatte.
While I was waiting for my new glasses to be delivered I had to keep my hands occupied with something. I couldn't see my teensy-weensy beads any more without magnifier. Luckily I remembered that I had some Chain Maille kits in my stash.

Voilá! "Bold and Brilliant Byzantine" von Kat Wisniewski/ Blue Buddha Boutique. Und weil genug Material da war, wurde es auch eine Halskette und nicht nur ein Armband.

Schon vor einigen Wochen sind diese kleinen Anhänger entstanden. Unsere liebe Perlenfreundin Laura Andrews war wieder mal im Perlament zu Gast, der Kurs hieß diesmal "Capsules and Tassels", übersetzt bedeutet das "Kapseln und Quasten".

...und hier die Quaste. Natürlich nur eine Version, das Muster bietet tatsächlich mindestens drölfhundert Möglichkeiten! Ich habe noch mehr davon in Arbeit, finde aber im Moment keine Zeit zum Weitermachen. Na ja, irgendwann bin ich fertig und dann zeige ich es natürlich auch hier :-)
...and this is the tassel. Only one version, of course. The design is very versatile and offers dozens of possibilities, at least! I have more of it on my bead tray, but just don't find the time to go on with it at the moment. But some day I will finish it and then, of course, I will show it off here :-)

Kepler star, reloaded

So einen Kepler-Stern aus Stäbchenperlen habe ich vor einiger Zeit schon mal gefädelt, er wohnt inzwischen in Kalifornien bei Marcia DeCoster. Nun wollte ich endlich einen Ersatz fädeln, um die leere Stelle in der Vitrine zu füllen.
Some time ago I already made a Kepler star like this one, with bugle beads and a big crystal caged in the middle. Meanwhile, this little guy lives in California at Marcia DeCoster's house. Now I wanted to make another one to fill the empty space in my glass cabinet.

Als es daran ging, eine dicke Perle als Füllung einzusetzen, musste ich feststellen, dass ich in meinen Kistchen leider nix passendes hatte. Neu bestellen und warten? Kam nicht in Frage! Und dann fiel mir dieser kleine Fellpuschel in die Finger. Der passte perfekt (und hat auch noch zufällig Marcias Haarfarbe :-))
When I wanted to drop in the center crystal a little problem occured: No big 22 mm crystal in the house! Order a new one and wait some days? Never! And then I found this little furry bead in my stash. Ha, perfect in size (and the color even matches Marcia's hairstyle :-))

Hamburg-Nachlese

Am 18./ 19. August fand ja in Hamburg die 2. PerlenKunstMesse von Beaders Best statt. Es war ein total schönes Wochenende, wir haben viele nette Leute getroffen, alte und neue Freunde. Vielen Dank an die Organisatoren und natürlich die Besucher. Schön, dass ihr auch bei 35 Grad im Schatten gekommen seid! :-) Wir freuen uns schon auf 2013!

On August, 18./ 19. the 2nd Beaders Best BeadArtFair took place. It was a wonderful weekend and we met loads of lovely people, old and new friends. Thanks a lot to the organisators and of course to the visitors. So nice of you to come, even if it was so hot you could fry eggs on our heads :-) And we are already looking forward to see you again in 2013!

 

Ich Depp hab wieder mal kaum Fotos gemacht! Sorry, ich war einfach abgelenkt. Das hier war übrigens Elkes und mein Stand, im Hintergrund unverkennbar die Crew von Pearls Planet (Hallo, Radek!)
Stupid me again forgot to take pictures, I was too distracted! Btw., this was Elke's and my booth, in the background you can see the Pearls Planet crew from Berlin.

Oh, und das hab ich bei einer Kursteilnehmerin von Zoya Gutina gesehen: Dichtungsringe als Perlentrenner auf der Matte. Clever, was?
A student in one of Zoya Gutins's classes had this clever solution to keep her beads separated on her beading mat: large o-rings!

Am Donnerstag hatten wir noch einen Auflug in die Hamburger Wollfabrik gemacht. Ach du liebes Lieschen, was für eine Farbenpracht!
On Thursday we had managed to squeeze in a visit to the Hamburg wool factory. Wow, look at those colors!!
